Bad Butchie Brown
"Bad Butchie Brown" started DJing at an Orlando roller rink at the age of 13... tired of the "old guys" who wouldn’t play
the songs he wanted to hear, he took matters into his own hands and never looked back. He and partner Jimmy Joslin
(yes, THAT Jimmy Joslin) traveled in an old brown AMC Gremlin, rocking the rinks around the state...
A natural progression to a radio career wasn’t far behind (the ripe old age of 14). He’s been the Intern, corny Mascot, eager
Weekend Personality, forgotten Public Affairs Director, abused Promotions Assistant, really abused Promotions Coordinator,
underappreciated Overnight Personality, voiceless Night Host, more talented than the hosts Morning Show Producer, celebrated
Music Director and fired Program Director.
His resume includes WORL (AM1270), WOKB (AM1600), WUCF (89.9FM), WBJW (BJ 105), WHLY (Y-106), WCAT (106.7FM).
His sidetrack to the label side of the business in the early/mid 90s landed him with DJ Magic Mike (yes, THAT DJ Magic Mike) and Cheetah Records.
As the club/radio promotions director, he saw success with three gold albums. The first of which was distributed almost
entirely out of his 1 bedroom apartment.
If you’ve ever been to a hockey game in Orlando, you’ve heard his stuff. As game night audio producer, he’s created the signature
sound for the Orlando Jackals, Orlando Roller Gators, Orlando Solar Bears, Orlando Surge, and Orlando Seals hockey clubs. Radio
called again in 2001 (Power 105, later O-Rock 105.9) and the radio seed was planted anew... After sitting on an interminable waiting
list, "Butchie" finally has become a loud and proud Tampa Bay Buccaneer season ticket holder, and couldn’t be happier with his
seats "three inches from the Sun".
Favorite artists/groups: Prince, Cameo, The Bar-Kays, Taylor Dayne, and Tom Jones
Favorite books: "Funk" by Rickey Vincent, "Quarterblack" by Doug Williams, and any book by George Carlin
Little known "Butchie" fact: He has worked for ,or directly with, 6 Olympic Gold Medalists.
